Hello! Today, I’m going to share with you five outfit styling options built on one base outfit. I build a lot of my outfits on a base outfit formula. This is a classic combination such as jeans and a white tee or a black bottom and black top or black bottom and white top. When I was planning one of my 75 Hard Style Challenge outfits earlier this week I had the idea to share outfit styling options for a base outfit. These outfit styling options are more spring focused but also would work well in fall or winter depending on where you’re located and some could be adjusted for summer too.
The base outfit I’m using for these five outfit styling options are a pair of black Banana Republic slim ankle pants and a sleeveless mock neck turtleneck from Gap. Let’s take a look at these outfit styling options in more detail.
Outfit #1 Base + Printed Blazer and Ivory Loafers. This outfit would work with any graphic black and white blazer. I am linking similar options since both of these blazers are unfortunately sold out. I balanced out the lighter color in the blazer with the ivory loafers, ivory flats or a lighter neutral would work with this outfit too.
Outfit #2 Base + Textured Cardigan and Mary Jane Flats. Yes, I know all black seems like an obvious outfit styling option. I added some interest to the outfit by pairing a textured cardigan with gold buttons from Ba&Sh Paris and Mary Jane flats. The gold accents add some extra “fab” to the outfit and you can’t go wrong with all black. You could wear black sandals in warmer weather as well and drape a black sweater over your shoulders as well.
Outfit #3 Base + Denim Jacket and Red Ballet Flats. I have always been a fan of a good pop of color with an outfit and am thrilled that cherry red is back “in” as an accent color in 2024. I don’t ever think I stopped wearing red flats though! This denim lady jacket is a bit more elevated than a classic denim jacket and I would wear this to the office. You could also pair this with a pair of white sneakers and a classic denim jacket to make this outfit more casual.
Outfit #4 Base + Ivory Blazer and Beige Slingback Heels. This ivory blazer from Sezane was one of my most worn items during the 75 Hard Style challenge. This is a wardrobe staple in my opinion and I’ve worn a similar outfit remixed a few ways including with jeans. I would also wear sneakers instead of heels and if you wanted to add a little extra fab you could add a printed shoe like a leopard or snakeskin printed shoe. A lighter colored or straw bag would make this a bit more summery too.
5. Base + Sweater Coat and Sneakers. This is my “casual Friday” outfit styling option and if you can’t wear sneakers to the office I would also wear a leopard or snakeskin print shoe with this or a neutral loafer as shown in this spring shoe styling post.
I had fun putting together this compilation of outfit styling options for an all black base outfit. Which outfit would you wear? What combination should I try next? Would love to hear what you think and thanks so much for stopping by!
